What is Offsite Delivery on LinkedIn?
Offsite Delivery is a campaign-level placement setting in LinkedIn Ads. When enabled, your ads can appear outside of LinkedIn β on third-party websites and apps that partner with LinkedIn's ad network.
This is distinct from the LinkedIn Audience Network (LAN), which extends Sponsored Content campaigns to partner sites. Offsite Delivery applies more broadly and can route ad impressions to placements outside LinkedIn's own platform.
The goal is to increase reach beyond LinkedIn's feed, but many advertisers find that offsite placements deliver lower-quality traffic that doesn't justify the spend.
Why should I turn it off?
Offsite delivery can cause several issues for LinkedIn campaigns:
Lower conversion quality. Users on third-party sites aren't in the professional, business-focused mindset that makes LinkedIn advertising effective.
Reduced targeting precision. LinkedIn's core value is its professional data β job titles, seniority, company size. On offsite placements, this targeting can be less reliable.
Limited visibility. You have little insight into exactly which sites and apps your ads appeared on, making it hard to assess quality.
Budget leakage. LinkedIn clicks are expensive. Spend diverted to lower-quality offsite placements can quickly erode ROI.
Risk of invalid traffic. Third-party partner sites carry a higher risk of bot activity or accidental clicks compared to LinkedIn's own platform.
How does this Improvement work?
Opteo checks whether your LinkedIn campaigns have Offsite Delivery enabled and brings them to your attention.
We show you which campaigns are delivering ads offsite and how long the setting has been active, so you can judge whether it's been quietly running in the background or was recently enabled.
From the Improvement, you can disable Offsite Delivery with a single click, ensuring your budget stays on LinkedIn where your professional audience is most engaged.
When can Offsite Delivery be helpful?
There are limited scenarios where offsite delivery might add value:
Brand awareness campaigns. When maximising reach matters more than conversion efficiency.
Large budgets. If you've already saturated your LinkedIn audience and need incremental impressions.
Top-of-funnel content. For promoting thought leadership or ungated content where conversion quality is less critical.
If it makes sense to keep Offsite Delivery enabled, you can dismiss the Improvement.
