What you can do in Opteo Chat vs the Opteo MCP

See what Opteo Chat and the Opteo MCP can read and change on each ad platform, and how changes are approved.

Written by Shaquira Jeyasingh

Opteo gives you two ways to work with AI on your ad accounts.

Opteo Chat lives inside the Opteo app. Each chat belongs to one ad account. It can read data from your other linked ad accounts too, but it only makes changes in the ad account the chat was opened in.

The Opteo MCP connects Opteo to your own AI assistant, such as Claude or ChatGPT. It works across all the ad accounts you've linked in Opteo and can make changes in any of them. To set it up, see Opteo MCP.

Both can read your performance data, look at GA4, search the web and work with files you upload. Opteo Chat can also generate images, for example to help with new ad creative. The main difference is what each can change, and on which platforms.

Google Ads

In Opteo Chat

  • Read everything in your ad account, including keyword ideas and search volumes, change history and conversions

  • Create Search campaigns with their budgets, plus new ad groups

  • Pause, enable and edit campaigns, ad groups, ads and keywords

  • Change budgets, bids and campaign settings

  • Add, edit and remove keywords

  • Add negative keywords at ad group, campaign or account level, and manage negative keyword lists

  • Exclude placements, YouTube channels, videos and apps

  • Write and edit responsive search ads

  • Set campaign location and language targeting

  • Create and edit sitelinks, callouts, structured snippets and call assets, and attach existing assets

Chat can't yet create Display, Video, Shopping or Performance Max campaigns, or change ad schedules, audiences, devices or demographics.

Through the Opteo MCP

  • Everything above

  • Almost any other change the Google Ads API allows, including Performance Max and Display campaigns, ad schedules, audiences and other targeting, and image and other asset types

Video campaigns can't be changed by either, because Google doesn't allow changes to them through its API.

Improvements and Issues

The Opteo MCP can list your Improvements and Issues, push Improvements, dismiss them and recheck Issues. In Opteo, push and dismiss Improvements from the Improvements page.

Settings in Opteo

The Opteo MCP can also manage your Opteo setup for you, such as linking and unlinking ad accounts, changing account settings and organising account groups. Chat doesn't do this yet.

Before any change is made

In Opteo Chat, every change comes up as a confirmation card first. You can see exactly what will change, edit the details and then confirm. Nothing is pushed until you do.

Through the Opteo MCP, your AI assistant asks you to confirm before it runs anything that changes your account. How that looks depends on your assistant. In Claude, for example, you'll be asked to allow each change, or you can choose to always allow it. We'd recommend keeping confirmations switched on.

Changes go live as soon as they're confirmed, so check the details before you approve.
