Apply Negative List

Add your shared negative keyword list to search campaigns that are missing them.

Negative keywords stop your ads showing for irrelevant searches, saving budget for clicks that matter. Shared negative keyword lists make it easy to apply exclusions across multiple campaigns.

But campaigns can slip through the cracks. A new campaign might go live without the list attached, or older campaigns may never have been linked. Over time, these gaps can create wasted spend.

This improvement acts as a hygiene check - surfacing campaigns missing a shared negative list and helping you fix it in a couple of clicks.

How it works

  • Opteo checks your active Search campaigns

  • If a campaign isn’t connected to a shared negative keyword list, we’ll flag it

  • We recommend adding the campaign to your most commonly used shared list (the one linked to the most campaigns)

  • You can also choose from all your other eligible shared negative lists, or add more than one

Applying the improvement

  1. Open the Apply Negative List improvement

  2. Review the recommended list

  3. (Optional) Select additional lists if you’d like

  4. Click Apply and Opteo will link the campaign to the list(s) in Google Ads

From then on, your campaign won’t show ads for the keywords covered by that list.

Technical notes

  • If no shared negative lists exist, you won’t see this improvement

  • Opteo can’t apply manager-owned negative lists (from MCC level)
