Chat Troubleshooting

Solutions to common errors and issues in AI Chat.

Why isn't Chat working on my new ad account?

Chat analyses performance history — spend, clicks, conversions over time. If an ad account is brand new, there may not be enough data for Chat to work with. This is especially likely with broad prompts that pull across multiple data types at once.

This isn't a bug — it reflects the absence of data rather than a connection problem. Come back once the account has a few weeks of history.

Chat says "Failed to fetch account" but my ad account is linked — what should I check?

First, confirm the date range isn't the issue (see above). If you're using a preset range and the error persists, go to Linked Accounts and check the account is still connected. Accounts can become unlinked if permissions change or access is revoked on the platform side.

Chat is frozen and I see "This conversation has an outstanding approval" — what does that mean?

This message appears when Chat has suggested an action it can carry out directly — such as applying a change — and is waiting for your confirmation before continuing. Chat pauses because it is waiting for your response to a suggested action, not because you have run out of allowance.

To unlock Chat: scroll up in the conversation, find the approval card, and click Cancel (or Approve if you want the action applied). The input will unlock as soon as the card is dismissed.

Chat says my GA4 connection isn't available, what do I do?

AI Chat reads GA4 from either place you can connect it: an Account Group, or an individual ad account's Settings. As long as GA4 is connected in one of those, Chat can use it.

If Chat still says no GA4 property is connected, the connection is usually incomplete. Opteo marks GA4 as connected once you have signed in with Google, even if you never got as far as choosing a property and data stream. It looks finished, but there is no property for Chat to read.

To fix it:

  1. Open the Google Analytics section, either in the ad account's Settings or in Group Settings from the Account Centre.

  2. Click Disconnect.

  3. Click Connect Analytics and choose the Google account that has access to your GA4 property.

  4. Select both a GA4 property and a data stream, then confirm.

Start a new Chat session and re-run your prompt. An existing session can keep referring back to what it saw before you reconnected.
