What are Linked Accounts?

The Linked Accounts page is where you manage which advertising accounts Opteo connects to. These are the accounts that appear in your Account Centre, contribute to your plan limits, and are included in Opteo’s analysis and recommendations.

It’s especially useful for agencies or brands managing multiple ad accounts — you stay in control of what Opteo sees, and what stays hidden.

How to find the Linked Accounts page

To open your Linked Accounts:

  • Click your profile avatar in the bottom-left corner of Opteo, or

  • Click the Linked Accounts button in the top-right of the Account Centre

This takes you to a full list of accounts across all connected platforms.

Switching ad platforms

If you manage more than just Google Ads, use the platform toggle in the top-right of the Linked Accounts page to switch between:

  • Google Ads

  • Microsoft Ads

  • Meta (Facebook/Instagram)

  • LinkedIn Ads

Each platform has its own Linked and Unlinked tabs — so if you don’t see the account you’re expecting, make sure you’re on the right platform view.

Linking and unlinking accounts

When you link an account:

  • It appears in your Account Centre

  • Opteo will analyse and surface improvements for that account

  • It starts contributing to your plan’s usage (account count + monthly spend)

When you unlink an account:

  • It’s removed from your dashboard (for all users)

  • It stops being analysed by Opteo

  • It no longer counts against your plan limits

Unlinking is useful for hiding test accounts, legacy clients, or any account you don’t need to optimise right now.

Connecting multiple MCCs

To import ad accounts from other logins:

  1. Click Import Google Ads MCC (or the equivalent for Microsoft, Meta, or LinkedIn)

  2. Sign in with your ad platform credentials

  3. Opteo will detect any ad accounts tied to that login

  4. You can choose which ones to link or keep unlinked

You can repeat this process for multiple logins — handy if you manage accounts under different email addresses or have multiple MCCs.

Note: Connecting a Google account gives Opteo third-party API access via standard OAuth permissions. You can view or revoke access at myaccount.google.com/permissions.

Understanding the Linked Accounts view

Each linked account displays:

  • Monthly spend (used to calculate your plan usage)

  • Connection status (whether you’re personally connected)

  • Change Log Email – this is the email that will appear in Google Ads change history when Opteo applies changes

  • Team members who are currently connected to the account

This view helps you see what’s active, who’s working on what, and what’s using up your plan.

When to unlink an account

You should unlink accounts if:

  • You no longer manage them

  • They belong to old clients

  • You’re nearing your plan limits and want to free up space

Unlinking keeps your account list clean and your plan usage under control.

📩 What is the ChangeLog email?

Every linked account shows a Change Log email — this is the email address used to connect that account to Opteo.

When Opteo makes changes (like excluding a keyword or adjusting settings), this is the identity Google Ads uses in the Change History log. It’s how Opteo remains compliant with Google’s audit trail requirements.

You can find the Change Log Email in the Linked Accounts settings, listed next to each connected account.

If you need to change it, unlink the account and reconnect it using a different Google login.

FAQs

Q: Will unlinking an account delete any data?
A: No — unlinking simply removes the account from Opteo’s dashboard and analysis. It does not affect anything inside the Google/Microsoft/Meta/LinkedIn ad account.

Q: Why don’t I see the account I just connected?
A: Make sure you’re viewing the correct platform tab and that the account is in the Linked list (not Unlinked). You may also need to connect a different Google login.

Q: Can I connect multiple ad platform logins?
A: Yes — you can import from as many email addresses or MCCs as you need.

Q: What does the Change Log Email actually do?
A: It’s the email Google Ads uses in its change history. It shows which Google user applied a change — in this case, the one who connected Opteo to the account.
