There are a few different reasons you might have trouble connecting Microsoft Ads to Opteo. Find the scenario that matches your situation below.
Your Microsoft account uses Google sign-in
If you sign in to Microsoft with your Google account (Google SSO), Opteo's connection flow won't be able to authenticate you β it requires a native Microsoft email and password.
The fix is to add a native email/password sign-in method to your Microsoft account, then use those credentials when connecting to Opteo.
For personal Microsoft accounts
Go to account.microsoft.com
Click Your Info
Go to Sign-in preferences
Add an email address you can use to sign in
For work accounts (managed by an organisation)
Click Security info
Add a new sign-in method using an email address
Once you've added the email/password method, return to Opteo and try connecting Microsoft Ads again using those credentials.
Third-party app access is blocked by your organisation
If you can't connect Microsoft Ads and your account is managed by an organisation, it's likely that a security setting in Microsoft Entra is preventing third-party apps from connecting without admin approval.
Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure AD) has policies designed to protect company data. One of these settings blocks external applications like Opteo unless an administrator explicitly grants permission. Your IT admin will need to adjust this.
Option 1: Allow user consent
This lets individual users approve app connections without needing admin approval each time. In the Microsoft Entra admin centre, go to Enterprise Applications β Consent and Permissions and change the setting to Allow user consent for apps. More information here.
Option 2: Grant tenant-wide admin consent for Opteo
If your IT admin prefers to approve only Opteo rather than enabling user consent for all apps:
Log into the Microsoft Entra admin centre with admin credentials
Navigate to Enterprise Applications
Search for Opteo
Click Permissions in the left-hand menu
Select Grant admin consent for [your organisation]
Confirm when prompted
After making these changes, try connecting Microsoft Ads again. If it still doesn't work, get in touch at [email protected].
